Want to make a change in California? There’s an app for that!

Do-It-Yourself Democracy is a newly released, FREE iPhone app for California residents that allows any citizen to interact with all three levels of government–federal, state and local–to help solve city pollution, graffiti, police corruption, potential environmental hazards and much more.
Do you want to contact the right person to get that pothole filled in downtown Sacramento? DIY Democracy is the app for that!
The inconveniences of government rarely occur at a time of our choosing. With DIY Democracy, it’s simple to report problems; the app automatically knows your location and pulls up contacts for officials from local municipalities, CalTrans, Little Hoover Commission, and much more.

Mobile connectivity allows you to protest problems when they occur:
- A pothole on your way to work
- A construction project interfering with your commute
- A new oppressive tax
- Or a police officer double-parked in front of a local donut shop.
You can even take a picture of the problem with your phone and send it along with your complaint. With one click, the application contacts the person responsible for the problem you seek to fix.
Need to know whether it’s illegal to charge admission to a house party in your city? (Warning: It is illegal in Los Angeles.) The app automatically pulls up local laws from your city with ease. You can do everything from checking your city’s budget to reading your federal rights and calling Obama.
Make a difference in your city with Do-It-Yourself Democracy.
Available now at the App Store
This app was produced by The Prometheus Institute, a 501(c)(3) non-profit think tank based out of Orange County, CA. It was released in California initially to gauge interest and proof of concept before rolling it out nationwide.
